Indian beliefs differ from other cultures in many ways. The Lakota people, for instance, have a unique belief system that involves a parallel spirit world. They believe any Indian can receive visions and guidance from God. The Lakota did not believe in sin, salvation or eternal damnation, as does Christianity. Instead, they believed that visions are from a higher being, and spiritual guidance comes in the form of guidance from these visions.

Hinduism

Hinduism refers to an Indian belief system which emphasizes the importance and non-violence of ethics. In Hindu literature, the four core values of Hinduism are called purusarthas. They are also known as dharma artha kama and moksa. These values form the basis of Hindu society.

Vedic culture

Vedic culture is a mixture of diverse ideas and customs that incorporate a wide variety spiritual approaches. It recognizes that God and religion are compatible and complementary. It is flexible and allows individual practitioners to interpret scriptures as they wish, and to practice their beliefs however they choose. Vedic culture includes many religious rites, practices, and even yoga and meditation. Its flexibility has contributed to the continued growth of the culture for thousands of years.
