These movies will appeal to those who love Greek mythology. They are rich in drama, action, and history. Whether you're looking for a film about Hercules, Percy Jackson, or O Brother, Where Art Thou, these movies have something for you.
Hercules
Hercules is a beloved character in Greek mythology. Many children enjoy animated movies about the hero. Disney's animated Hercules has become a popular film. The story is loosely inspired by the life of the Greek hero. The story focuses on Hercules' twelve labors, and it is full of characters from the ancient Greek society. Danny DeVito and many other talented actors voice the animated cast.
Disney's Hercules, a wonderful film for children, is delightful. While it doesn't feature the heroics of the original Hercules, it is a pleasant enough introduction to Greek mythology.
O Brother, Where Art Thou
O Brother, where art Thou, a movie about Greek mythology, takes Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey, and places it in 1930s-era Mississippi. Although it is based upon the epic poem, the film does not follow it exactly and instead focuses on modern life. Its setting also sets the story apart from The Odyssey, which is a work of ancient Greek mythology set in the Mediterranean Sea during the Bronze Age.

Many modifications are made to the events in Greek mythology stories because of their setting. The Odyssey shows Odysseus as a shepherd, but O Brother, Where Art Thou? has characters who are Klu Klux Klan members. The setting plays an important part in the story's structure, narrative, and design.
Electra
Electra, the daughter of King Agamemnon, is put into mourning when her father and his wife are killed by a rival king and his wife, Clytemnestra. Electra becomes bitter and hateful as a result of the tragedy. She is a young woman when she sets out to kill her father and seek revenge with Orestes. They must reconcile their passion for justice and their feelings of matricide.
Electra's tragic tale is a classic example of Greek tragedy. The tale of revenge is an ideal story for playwrights. The Electra character, which is bitter, erudite and dangerous, is everything a playwright could wish for in a character.
Percy Jackson
"Percy Jackson's Adventures with the Olympians" (the fifth book in Rick Riordan’s Rick Riordan trilogy) is the fifth. This book follows the adventures the Greek god Poseidon's child. The story follows Percy as he becomes embroiled in battles between the deities. The book includes illustrations by John Rocco and a family tree of the Greek gods. Although the story is similar to other Greek mythology books in many ways, it was important that he included stories not usually found in traditional retellings.
The Titanomachy, a battle between the gods and Titans, is a part of the story. Kronos, who was the father and founder of the Titans didn't trust his children, so his wives kept Zeus out of Kronos's reach. Kronos was distrusted when the baby ate Kronos's siblings.

The 300 Spartans
Zack Snyder's The 300 Spartans is a great movie if you love Greek mythology movies. Based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller, the film is based on the story of the Battle of Thermopylae. Although there are some similarities between the stories, there are also differences. Both films feature brutality and machismo.
The film shows King Leonidas in his youth, while the historical King was approximately 60 years old at the time he was murdered at Thermopylae. King Leonidas continued to be loyal to his people, even though the age limit made it impossible for him to fight. King Xerxes succeeded him, who was younger with a beard.
